SAP Note 79634 - KP06ff.: Lock logic in manual planning

Component : Planning -

Solution : https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/79634 (SAP Service marketplace login required)

Summary :
Lock issues in transaction SM12 related to CCSS lock object can occur during manual planning or its auxiliary functions, affecting concurrent processing of distinct cost center groups. SAP's lock management approach limits lock entries to 50 to prevent system overload, employing a mix of exact and generic 'wildcard' locks for characteristics that appear multiple times. Generic locks can inadvertently cover unrelated single values, leading to described lock problems. Adjustments to this logic, including increasing maximum lock entries or exclusively treating certain characteristics, can be implemented to optimize lock efficiency, details of which can be customized as per organizational needs.
