SAP Note 410929 - Converting Shift-JIS to UTF-8: propietary MS-characters

Component : Internationalization (I18N) - Please use component BC-ABA-XML

Solution : https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/410929 (SAP Service marketplace login required)

Summary :
When sending Japanese texts with XML and converting from Shift-JIS to UTF-8, SAP systems might encounter a conversion error with proprietary Microsoft characters, even with substitution enabled. This error, associated with code page conversion routines (rscpCConvert), triggers an incorrect handling of characters outside the JIS-X-0208-1990 set, causing the return code RSCPENOCONV to be incorrectly issued. A solution is underway with a kernel patch; meanwhile, users of SAP release 4.6C are advised to upgrade to patch level 665 of kernel 4.6D for a resolution. SAP Note 331646 also provides additional guidance on modifying character mapping tables.
