SAP Message SMOE_MESSAGE740 - Job is currently running. Press refresh to update the log

Diagnosis
You are checking the log of the subscription agent.
This message is displayed, if the subscription agent is currentlyrunning or there are severe problems in the subscription agent run.

Procedure
Press the refresh button to get the latest information.
If several screen updates produce no new information, analyze thesystem. There are the following reasons for this behaviour:

  • The background job is not started automatically.

    • Call Transactional RFC (transaction SM58). Use the date of thesubscription agent log as a selection criterion and enterSMOE_SUBSCR_GEN_START into TRFC Function . If there arealready entries, start it directly. The refresh function in thesubscription agent log should work now.
    One possible reason that the TRFC functions are not startedautomatically can be that destination NONE was deregistered inthe qRFC Monitor (QOUT Scheduler) (transaction SMQS). Registerthis destination so that TRFC functions will be started automatically.
    • The subscription agent caused a short dump.

      • Call ABAP runtime errors (transaction ST22) to analyze the shortdump. Use the date of the subscription agent log as a selectioncriterion and enter the user for whom the job runs. The user can beobtained from the Administration Console menu (transactionSMOEAC) using Extras->Job Maintenance. In the boxSubscription Agent Job you find the user name. The user name canalso be found in Simple Job Selection (transaction SM37) withjob name SMOE_SUBSCRIPTION_AGENT_ where <(>
      <<)>MANDT> has to be filled with the current client number (for exampleSMOE_SUBSCRIPTION_AGENT_200, if you are working on client 200).
      Remark: The unfinished entries in the log of the subscriptionagent will stay 7 days. Afterwards they will be deleted automaticallyby the reorganization of the log of the subscription agent. If you needto change the default value for the reorganization of the unfinishedlog entries, follow the instructions:
      Call transaction Maintain Table Views: Initial Screen(transaction SM30)
      Choose as Table/View SMOFPARSFA
      Press Maintain
      Press New Entries
      Maintain the values:
      Field,,Value
      Key,,SMOE
      Parameter Name,,SMOE_REORG_SMOEGENLOG_NOT_FINISHED
      Param. Value,,
      where has to be a numeric value responsible for the daysthe unfinished log entries have to be kept. If is of aninvalid format the default value 7 will be taken.
