Copy of RT 239Diagnosis The commit charge is the total memory (physical and virtual) that isused by programs or by the operating system. The term is used in theWindows NT Task Manager, and its maximum value should be smaller thanthe available main memory. The available commit charge is maximum value set by the operatingsystem (Commit Charge Limit in Task Manager) minus the currently usedcommit charge (Commit Charge Total). System Response If the commit charge is larger than the real main memory, performancesuffers due to increased paging. Procedure If the available commit charge falls below the threshold, you shouldset the value to the complete operating system value for the CommitCharge. Note, however, that an increased demand on virtual memorycauses more paging if there is not enough main memory available. |
