Checking Tools: Interface between DataSource (source system) andInfoSource (BW system)
This transaction offers a range of checking tools, with the help ofwhich you can test the Interface between DataSources indifferent source systems and InfoSources in the BW system fromthe point of view of Metadata .

General Entries for Checking Tools

  • Check-object

  • You can enter the DataSources that you want to check directly into thefield 'DataSource'. You can also check the DataSources of a completeapplication component.
You have to fill in at least one of the two fields in the entry screen.
    • Source system

    • The list of source systems that are connected to BW is created by theprogram. You select individual source systems from this list in whichto check the selected DataSources. If you do not select a sourcesystem, the check is carried out for every source system in the list.
      • Check

      • You use radio buttons to choose the checking tool.

        Checking Tool Procedure

        • Consistency in different source systems

        • For the check to be useful you have to enter at least two sourcesystems for different R/3 releases here.
Starting from the source system(s) with a lower R/3 release, it checks, for the source system(s) with higher R/3 releases, whether
          the selected DataSources exist
the DataSource field assignment to InfoObjects in BW is complete
the delta method of the selected DataSource agrees.
These comparisons take place using DataSources replicated in the BWsystem. These checks ensure a consistent DataSource status, using thesource systems (R/3 releases) that are relevant for delivery
          • Replica against field assignment

          • Checks take place on two levels with this tool:
On one level, the DataSource replica from the source systems is checkedagainst the assignment of the selected DataSources (source systems) toInfoSources (BW system). Here, the tables RSOLTPSOURCE (replica) and RSISOSMAP (assignment of DataSource to InfoSource)are compared.
On the other level, the replica of the DataSource fields (dataelements) from the source system is checked against the assignment ofthese data elements to InfoObjekts (BW system). Here, the tablesRSOLTPSOURCEFIE (replica) and RSOSFIELDMAP (assignment ofDataSource fields to InfoObjects) are compared.
These checks ensure that replicated DataSources and their fields in BWare mapped to InfoSources and InfoObjects. They also ensure that theDataSources and fields that are assigned in BW also exist in the sourcesystem and have been replicated correctly from there into the BWsystem.
            • A against D version

            • This tool checks the object versions of the DataSource/InfoSourceassignments (table RSISOSMAP) and of the data element/InfoObjectassignments (table RSOSFIELDMAP). Starting from the activeversion (object version A), in the delivered version (object version D)the tool examines whether,
the assignments exist on DataSource and data element levels
the assignments agree on DataSource and data element levels.
This is to make sure that the active version of the assignments (onDataSource and data element levels) are also delivered in this form.
