Diagnosis
The length of characteristic &V1& has lengthened from &V2& to &V3&. Inaddition, characteristic &V1& has the coversion routine &V4&.

System Response
When lengthening, existing values for the characteristic &V1& may not becorrectly modified. Therefore, activation is denied if master data,SIDs, texts or data in DataStore objects still exist for thecharacteristic.
This affects the ALPHA, NUMCV and GJAHR conversion routines. Afterlenghthening, the values can no longer be found in the tables, since thevalues are not automatically filled with zeros.
Lengthening is allowed for other conversion routines but may also createproblems. Therefore, you should check for yourself that the values arecorrect after lengthening.

Procedure
Reverse the lengthening or delete all master data from characteristicV1 first.
If ALPHA, NUMCV or GJAHR conversion routines are involved, you can firstof all remove the conversion routine in characteristic maintenance. Thenlengthen and activate the characteristic, before finally reactivatingthe conversion routine and a data conversion with theRSMDEXITON transaction.
In the transaction, enter the characteristic and the conversion routinein the appropriate fields. Afterwards, choose the activate theconversion routine function.
