SAP Message R7029 - Characteristic &1 cannot be a master data InfoSource

Diagnosis
Application component &V2& is assigned to InfoObject &V1&. This meansthat the InfoObject becomes a master data InfoSource
with direct update. However, this is not possible for thisInfoObject for one of the following reasons:

  • the characteristic is 0SOURSYSTEM (source system ID).

  • The characteristic has neither master data, texts, nor hierarchies,
    • meaning that it does not makes sense to load data for thischaracteristic.
    • The InfoObject is not a characteristic, but a unit, or a key figure.

      • System Response
      The application component is deleted. This means the characteristic isno longer an InfoSource with direct update and it no longer appears inthe Data Warehousing Workbench InfoSource tree.

      Procedure
      If you want the characteristic to be an InfoSource with direct update,change it so that it does have master data, texts, or hierarchies.
