SAP Message QS084 - You can only change certain control indicators

Diagnosis
You want to change a master inspection characteristic. Certain controlindicators cannot be changed. Others can only be changed with care.

Example
Example 1: The master inspection characteristic is eitherincluded in a material specification or in a task list as a reference, and changes are made without history.
If the "Sampling procedure" or "SPC characteristic" is set, a change tothe other control indicators can lead to inconsistencies, sincesampling procedures that are included in material specifications andtask lists may no longer be compatible with the control indicators.
Once you have changed the control indicators, you should thereforecheck the task lists and material specifications, in which the masterinspection characteristic is included as a reference.
In this example, the following control indicators cannot be changed:

  • Characteristic attribute

  • Lower specification limit

  • Upper specification limit

  • Check target value

  • Sampling procedure

  • SPC characteristic

  • Test equipment assignment

  • Calculated characteristic

  • Example 2: The master inspection characteristic is linked to anumeric class characteristic. In this example, the following control
    indicators canot be changed :
    • Lower specification limit

    • Upper specification limit

    • Confirm values

    • Classed recording

    • All other control indicators can be changed, provided that conditionsin example 1 do not apply.
Example 3: The master inspection characteristic is linked to aclass characteristic that has a reference to a selected set. In thisexample, the following control indicators cannot be changed:
      • Characteristic attribute

      • All other control indicators can be changed, provided that conditionsin example 1 do not apply

        Procedure

        • Check the control indicators for the master inspection characteristic.

        • After making a change to the control indicators, check the task lists
        • or material specifications, in which the master inspectioncharacteristic is included as a reference.
