Diagnosis
When editing the inspection plan, you tried to mark an inspectioncharacteristic as a parameter characteristic by creating a reference toan existing master inspection characteristic.
This is not possible because the reference characteristic does notcontain any parameter characteristics.

Procedure

• If you assign an inspection method with parameter characteristics to a
master inspection characteristic in an inspection plan, this masterinspection characteristic is marked as a primary characteristic.Even if the parameter characteristics are deleted in the inspectionplan, the master inspection characteristic is still marked as a primarycharacteristic. If you want to assign another inspection characteristicto such a primary characteristic when editing the inspection plan, youmust create a reference to the inspection characteristic number of theprimary characteristic.

• In contrast, it is not possible to assign an inspection
characteristic as a parameter characteristic to any master inspectioncharacteristic in the inspection plan. The reference characteristic mustalways be a primary characteristic. If this is not the case, youmust assign the parameter characteristic to an inspection method thatyou will then assign to the master inspection characteristic.
