Diagnosis
Usually additional source fields are used to assign fields with the samemeaning, but that are from different tables, to a target field. (Forexample, they can be used to link the document number of a header tablewith the document number in the corresponding items table). If thedomains of the fields differ, then it is very likely that the fieldshave different meanings. Moreover, assigning several fields with different data types to a sourcefield can lead to technical difficulties. When the archive informationsystem fills an infostructure it has to write the corresponding valuesinto the same field of a database table. If the data types are notcompatible, the program may terminate while it is filling aninfostructure. Procedure |
