Diagnosis
You want to replace the change type entered with another change type.

System Response
The system checks the status profiles allocated to the two changetypes. You can only replace a change type with another change type thathas the same status profile.

Procedure
Check the status profiles allocated to the change types in Customizing(for engineering change management, step "Define change types").
