Diagnosis
You want to edit a characteristic whose values are maintained with aunit. However, the unit assigned to the characteristic is no longervalid.
The unit has been deleted from the list of available units since thecharacteristic was last maintained.

Procedure
Inform your system administrator to have the unit defined as availableagain.
