Diagnosis
You cannot assign a characteristic to text symbol &V1& for one of thefollowing reasons:

• An invalid characteristic name was used in the text symbol.


• An invalid characteristic number was used in the text symbol. This
error may occur, for example, if you manually define a text symbol inthe process instruction assistant. When you exit the assistant, theconnection to the characteristic is lost because the assistant assignsthe final characteristic numbers only now.

Procedure
RESET N1
Delete the incorrect text symbol.
In the process instruction assistant, place the cursor at the positionin the text where you want to insert the text symbol.
Choose Edit -> Insert -> Text symbol.
Copy the characteristic to which you want to refer with the textsymbol.
