SAP Message BK256 - Statistical cost elements cannot be reposted

Diagnosis
You are attempting to repost a statistical cost element (cost elementcategory 90 - cost element for balance sheet account).

System Response
Reposting costs or CO line items is not supported for cost elementcategory 90 in the standard system.

Procedure
Reverse the original posting if necessary, and enter adjustmentpostings in FI or MM.
In Customizing, you can switch off the message to enable reposting forcost elements for special balance sheet accounts:

  • When the message is switched off, costs can be reposted if the cost
    • element is a cost element for a special balance sheet account andmessage KI 098 is switched off as well. Other cost elements of category90 (such as cost elements for material stock accounts) cannot bereposted.
    • Message type "E" (standard setting): Costs for statistical cost
      • elements of category 90 cannot be reposted.
