Variants are not sorted.

Procedure
In order to sort variants, there are 2 options:
Select the columns (in the column header) that you want to sort.
Up to 4 columns can be sorted (although it is possible to select morethan 4). Sorting takes place in the sequence in which the columnsappear (from left to right).
Then choose the function for sorting, either in ascending order ordescending order.
Place the cursor in the column you want to sort.
Then choose the function for sorting, either in ascending order ordescending order. This is a simple sort.

Note:
Sorting by selecting columns takes precedence over sorting bypositioning the cursor.
