SAP Message AA497 - Asset retirement not possible with debit or automatic posting

Diagnosis You have tried to enter an asset retirement using a debit posting lineor using an automatically created posting line. This is not possible.You can only enter an asset retirement as a credit-revenueposting. Procedure Check the field selection control of the current account, and (ifneeded) suppress the field for entry for the asset retirement.
