Diagnosis The employee's NI category for the current period is not a contractedout COMPS category, so the payroll calculation does not carry out thefull COMPS minimum payment check. However, the employee was a member ofa COMPS scheme in a retroactive period where changes to the pensioncontributions have occurred. These changes may have implications onwhether or not the COMPS minimum payment requirement was violated. System Response A payroll exception is issued for the employee. Procedure Investigate the cause of the problem. Possible reasons for thismessage could be:
- Employee was previously a member of a COMPS scheme in a
retrocalculation period and had a retroactive reduction in pensioncontributions during COMPS membership.
- Employee joined a COMPS scheme retroactively, but is no longer enrolled
in the COMPS scheme in the IN-period.
- Employee is inactive.
If you fail to pay sufficient funds into the COMPS scheme for all youremployees, you may lose the contracted out status of the scheme.
