SAP Message 42035 - You cannot select this attribute value as a default value

Diagnosis
The attribute value intended as default value is empty and thereforecannot be stored.
The required value already matches the presetting in the system.
Examples of attributes for which this kind of behavior can bedetermined:

  • Usage type

  • No value for this attribute means that in the selected structure this isa substructure. A default value can only be set if book structures areto be created.
    • 'Never translate the object':

    • No value for this attribute means that this object is not excluded fromtranslation. The object appears with the corresonding status intranslation mode in the SAP GUI. This is the standard system setting. Adefault value can only be set if this object is never to be translated.

      Procedure
      If an area-wide default value has already been set for this kind ofattribute, and if a different value is required for a certain class,proceed as follows:

      • Delete the area-wide default value using the context menu 'Delete per
      • Area'.
        • Set the default value specifically for the class.
