Diagnosis
You have entered a follow-up group for a BOM item. The follow-up groupis used to identify an item as a follow-up item - an item whichreplaces a discontinued item.

System Response
The system checks the material master record of the item. Thediscontinuation indicator in the discontinuation data (MRP3view) of the material master record for this item is the value 1(simple/parallel discontinue). This value means that you must enter afollow-up material in the material master record.

Procedure
Since a follow-up material is maintained in the material master recordof this BOM item, the item is a discontinued material. Once a materialhas been defined as discontinued, you can no longer define the materialas a follow-up item for another item in a BOM.
You can only define this material as a follow-up item if you change thevalue for the discontinuation indicator in the material master record.Otherwise, you have to enter a different follow-up item.
