Diagnosis
You want to create a new version of an existing document. The followingsituations trigger this message:

• Automatic version assignment has been defined for the selected document
type via settings in Customizing.

• You have entered the special character "* at the beginning of
the field Document version. In this case, the version number isassigned internally by the system, even if the settings in Customizingare not defined so as to support automatic version assignment.

Procedure
Confirm the message. The system creates a new version of the existingversion with the highest number, &V1& &V2& &V3& &V4&.
The document data of the reference version is copied as default values,except for the document status.
