Diagnosis
You want to create a documen of document type &V1& and have made anentry in the Version field.
Settings in Customizing (Document management), define whether versionassignment is supported for each document type.
Version assignment is not supported for documents of document typeV1.

Procedure
Remove your entry in the Version field by entering "!" at thebeginning of the field.
